Under monotypes, we are also including other graphic work such as woodcuts, drawings, paintings, and block prints. The colorful geometric shapes were created mostly at Cranbrook between 1937-1943. Later monotypes were often plans for subsequent sculptures or public commissions of the 1960s and 1970s. Monotypes were created in every year of Bertoia’s career.
