The Harry Bertoia Foundation, a 501 (c) (3), is headquartered in St George, Utah. We have a modest gallery with wonderful samples of Bertoia’s works including a dandelion, Sonambient tonals, spill casts, welded wire, monotypes, jewelry and furniture. Daughter Celia Bertoia is there most days and will give you a private Sonambient concert and answer your questions. A Saarinen sale table has fun and useful objects available including T shirts, Bertoia books, monotype scarves and some rotating items not found at the online store. We have a few original Bertoia bronzes and monotypes, mostly under $5000, available as well. Please visit – you will be glad you did.

St George is in the midst of red rocks country, thus there is plenty to do once you leave the Foundation. Zion National Park, Bryce National Park, Snow Canyon State Park, endless biking and hiking trails, superb climbing areas, and several gorgeous reservoirs are all nearby, most just minutes away and some about an hour’s drive. There are great restaurants and numerous cultural centers including world-renowned Tuacahn set in the middle of red rocks. The Shakespeare Festival, also nationally recognized, is 45 minutes up the highway. Las Vegas is 110 miles to the south.

The Foundation, while working throughout the country and even internationally, is active in the local community as well. We work closely with Utah Tech University to award scholarships, offer internships, and loan artworks to their gallery. A 5’ double-walled Bertoia gong hangs in the Red Hill Desert Gardens, a St George cacti project featuring water conservancy. We work with a local welder who does excellent repairs on sculptures, and a local upholsterer who did a bang-up job on re-covering our Bertoia chairs. Our in-house ASA fine art appraiser consults with resident art collectors to research appraisal reports for everything from Picassos to Bertoia sculptures to grandma’s treasures.

Ask us about our long term projects. Volunteer! Donate! They include:

  • Find a suitable public home for the remaining Sonambient collection
  • Locate and document all Bertoia artworks to include in the Catalogue Raisonné
  • Turn a few of Bertoia’s curvaceous welded sculptures into 3D plastic copies for playgrounds
  • Mentor an apprentice to manage the logistical and curatorial roles at the Foundation
  • Author articles / books on furniture, monotypes, and other aspects of Bertoia’s work
  • Create software in which the public could do their own virtual Sonambient concert
  • Organize the archives to become available for researchers online
