From early on, my father had grandiose ideas about gongs. Several monotypes of the 1960s revealed his dreams of utilizing the Aeolian harp concept in his own sculptures.
In the 1960s, during my childhood, Harry was in the thick of his sculptural career. Architects, galleries and fans inundated him with requests.
The Bertoia sprays are beautiful flowing sculptures that shimmer and sparkle, but several issues have arisen in recent years for a number of reasons. Each topic will be addressed singly and suggested solutions proffered.
Knoll, Inc., the company which produces Bertoia chairs, recently loaned a beautiful dandelion to the Harry Bertoia Foundation.
Like any precious object, treat your sculptures with respect and care. If you do not feel comfortable doing any of the below procedures, then do NOT do them!
Harry Bertoia was born on March 10, 1915 in San Lorenzo, Friuli, Italy. Happy Birthday, Daddy!
